Kate Mothes is the founder of Young Space, an independent online and nomadic curatorial platform emphasizing contemporary art by emerging, early-career, and student artists. She collaborates with artists to organize exhibitions online and offline throughout the year. She is also former Co-Founder and Editor of Dovetail Magazine.
Mothes is interested in dispersed and itinerant art practices; emergent contemporary art; alternative arts education, exhibition, and gallery operation; and the creative crucibles and conduits of artist-run culture.
She earned her Bachelors in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters in the History of Art, Theory and Display from Edinburgh College of Art at the University of Edinburgh.
She currently splits her time mainly between Scotland and Wisconsin.
