Kate Mothes

I have a multifaceted background in contemporary art curating, publishing, research, and communications. I love to travel, visit museums and galleries, and do studio visits with artists. In my spare time, you’ll find me hiking coastal and mountain paths, marveling at architecture and heritage, or working on my passion project Dovetail Magazine.

I provide remote freelance communications and editorial services and strategy consultation for art galleries, organizations, and publications. Through Young Space, a contemporary arts platform I founded in 2014, I’ve become part of an extensive global network of artists, gallerists, collectors, curators, and creatives. Raised in the rural Midwest and largely based there until 2021, I understand the importance of staying in touch and engaging with audiences, clients, and stakeholders in a globalized, dispersed art world. I enjoy working with small teams in both the commercial and nonprofit sectors.

I hold a Bachelors in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters in the History of Art, Theory and Display from Edinburgh College of Art at the University of Edinburgh. I am currrently based in Scotland.
